As well as the classic track-related editing options, Samplitude Pro X also features object-level editing. This opens up new possibilities for processes like mixing and sound design. The audio material can be split into as many objects as you like and moved around on tracks freely. Every object may be edited with custom effects and fades, e.g. equalizer, time stretching, pitch shifting or VST plug-ins. Even AUX sends are possible at object level. This means that the particular AUX send is only active for this particular object. This makes time-consuming automation obsolete.
The object editor provides real-time access to every setting for the object. All settings at the object level are calculated non-destructively during playback. Therefore no new files are created. This saves space on the drive and also provides the option of changing settings at any time. Each object can be processed with the complete palette of included effects and inserts for DirectX and VST plug-ins.
For example, you may discover that individual words from a vocal track require a pitch adjustment, so you could split each word, even every syllable into a single object. These individual objects may be corrected with the real-time pitch correction function or edited in terms of volume and panorama or using other plug-ins.

Non-destructive editing
Nearly all editing may be done virtually, without the need to alter audio files destructively. Even a simple normalization, which normally needs to be calculated into the affected file, may be carried out in Samplitude and Sequoia in via non-destructive processes. The advantage of this working method is the effective time savings it provides (the result is immediately audible) and the absolute freedom it allows during editing. Every step, every setting may be changed however you like later or even undone.
Ranges & markers
Ranges are normally used to specify cuts that are able to be made with important editing operations like cut, copy, normalize, etc. This is also the case in Samplitude Pro X.
Of course, the controls in the range functions have been expanded. There's hardly any manipulation that can't be made. Ranges can be stretched sample-exact via drag & drop with the mouse, saved endless times, and the range edges may be moved exactly with the mouse and the keyboard.

Mouse tools
Samplitude Pro X has a range of Mouse Modes on offer. These are tools for various different tasks like selecting, editing, marking, cutting, drawing automation, or time stretching/pitch shifting. What's especially interesting in this case is "Universal" mouse mode, which switches between the upper and lower half of a track depending on the position. This function expands the standard quantization options by enabling rhythm and phasing to be extracted from recordings and loops so they can be subsequently used on others recordings. These Groove Templates are ideal for solving timing problems creatively so everything fits into the arrangement nicely.
The so-called "Drum Replacement" function provides an intuitive method for editing songs. Simply replace certain instruments from a live percussion recording or add your own audio material. For example, replace a certain element like toms or snares with audio files or exchange the bass drum with an electronic effect.

In Samplitude Pro X every object can be adjusted with an entirely separate automation. This can also be done without any annoying menus, simply by using the mouse handles. What's more, you can also add another object automation for another parameter on a track that already features automation at the track level. To make sure everything stays clearly laid-out and easy to use, you can select between the track and object automation display directly in the track editor beside the track at any time.
The special feature of object automation is that effects and automation are connected directly with the object. That means that the objects and their automations may be moved or split however you like; the data remains connected to the object at all times. Since the object processing is present prior to the track processing in the signal flow, object automation is still able to be edited creatively with the following track automation.

Samplitude Pro X enables high-definition stereo and Surround audio DVDs to be burned straight from the arrangement. +R/-R/+RW/-RW blank discs can be used. Audio files are burned uncompressed (linear PCM) according to the DVD audio standard.
Audio files can be exported and burned in Surround or stereo format according to the DVD audio standard – this makes it possible to burn high-definition stereo and surround projects directly from the multi-track arrangement. The project does not have to be exported first. The effects available in Samplitude provided for the mastering process are extremely powerful.

Samplitude Pro X offers an extensive range of MIDI functions - MIDI data may be imported and exported at any time via keyboard, MIDI keyboard, or via the mouse and then processed with internal editors. Of course, VST instruments may also be integrated and controlled with the editors mentioned. No matter whether VSTis or synthesizers from Samplitude Pro X or external VST plug-ins; they can all be edited and played back with the various editors.
The MIDI editor integrates different sub-editors, views, ranges, and tools. For example, the piano roll, drum editor, score editor, controller editor (e.g. velocity, MIDI volume, etc.), and a list editor are all available.
Various editors
Samplitude Pro X features a variety of editors. The familiar piano roll mode provides an exact display of the start of the notes, their length, and their pitch. Of course, the notes may also be copied, moved, extended, shortened, and played back here directly. You also have complete access to the VST instruments used and you can also specifically set and change any parameter like velocity, sustain, and other effects. The drum editor may be operated in two different modes.

This 6-band EQ works either with oversampling or with phase linear algorithms, proving its proficiency in mixing as well as in mastering. The audio material can be split into as many objects as you like and moved around on tracks freely. Non-destructive editing
Nearly all editing may be done virtually, without the need to alter audio files destructively. Even a simple normalization, which normally needs to be calculated into the affected file, may be carried out in Samplitude and Sequoia in via non-destructive processes. The advantage of this working method is the effective time savings it provides (the result is immediately audible) and the absolute freedom it allows during editing. Every step, every setting may be changed however you like later or even undone.
